NMT : Update in Ewing case - Charges dropped

According to Socorro Magistrate Court records Deputy District Attorney Stacey Ward dismissed all charges against Robert Ewing in connection with his wife’s allegation of rape against him. Earlier in the week Ewing hired Los Lunas Attorney Allen R. Smith. We will keep readers updated as to the particulars of this matter as they become available.

NMT : Bingaman announces $2.3 million for NMT

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman announced today that the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology has been awarded a $2.3 million federal research grant to fund carbon sequestration technologies.

After another excellent year at NMT university president Dan Lopez has grabbed a 35% raise and a contract ending in 2008. The wealth is apparently going to be spread around a bit.

NMT : Tech Professor arrested for rape

Since no one else seems to want to identify the New Mexico Tech (NMT) professor arrested for rape here in Socorro on November 3, 2005 I will. His name is Robert Ewing. He is a Chemistry professor at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He was arraigned on November 7, 2005 after posting bond on November 4, 2005. Case #M-52-FR-200500230. These charges have since been dismissed by the DA - see (this).

NMT : Internet Explorer 5.x security hole::NMT caught with pants down

As a result of the leak of some Microsoft Windows source code onto the internet recently a security hole has been discovered in all Internet Explorer 5 versions by the outside world. Microsoft says they knew about the problem and fixed it in IE6. Sources within the company say the thought was the hole would not be found through typical hacking activity and that customers would download and install the far superior IE6 since it is free.
